We decided to book in for the £10 for 3 courses on Monday 24th as we wanted to support as many independents as possible. Conveniently the oak is literally 2 mins from my house and it’s #dogfriendly which is great as it means we don’t have to leave fudge. We arrived and were shown to our table, the music was just starting to play and it was lovely and relaxed. They have been busy redecorating during lockdown. We had ordered the pate & the fish cakes for starter, the pate was nice & the fish cakes were tasty. . Then the mains came, mussels one of my faves, the sauce was delicious, I wished I had some bread to soak it all up. James had the pork and said it was tasty, the beetroot mash was lovely too. Onto puddings, the lemon tart was nice & so was the pineapple cheesecake. We really enjoyed the music, and it was a very pleasant evening, the only thing that let it down was things were bought in rather than homemade. EAT OUT TO HELP OUT We finally managed to get to the Paul Pry & even better all 3 of us made it. After a cancellation we finally got a table, and we were so excited. We arrived for a table at 8pm and couldn't wait to see what was on the menu. The reviews have been so good, and lets just say they weren't wrong. We ordered the Tacos to share & the Courgette fritters Mint & Goats Cheese for starters. Let's start with the Taco's. They were fun, every mouthful was absolutely delicious. They came with Brisket, Lime Wedges, Grilled Pineapple, Sweetcorn Salsa and Homemade Tacos (I think). We loved every mouthful of them. The Courgette fritter was also tasty. For mains we chose Steak Frites, Open Lasagne & Mushroom, Cheese & Spinach Vol Au Vent. Sadly the Chicken Pie had Sold Out. We started with the Steak, Chips, Bearnaise Sauce & Watercress. OH MY GOSH. Every mouthful was bliss. The Steak was cooked beautifully, seasoned well and moist. The chips were homemade, crunchy and beautiful too. Even the tomato was incredible, blushed/confit rather than grilled. THE BEARNAISE stole the show.. WOW, it really was phenomenal. We were given extra and we ate all of it, it was seriously incredible, the tarragon really shone through too. We tried the Vegetarian next the vol au vent was lovely, pastry crisp & the potatoes served were more like a potato salad which was different, for us they could have been cooked a little longer but we still ate them all. The Lasagne was delicious too, not too much pasta. The Garlic bread though.. YUM! Really Garlicky just how it should be! We loved every mouthful! Time for Puds - We ordered the Strawberry Cheesecake, Warm Chocolate Pudding & Raspberry and Almond Tart. We started with the warm chocolate pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream - It was gooey and had some mixed nuts in the middle, which I enjoyed but the girls aren't really fan of nuts. Ice Cream was delicious. The Raspberry & Almond Tart, Yum. I wish we could have appreciated this more but we were soo full! The Ice Cream was Raspberry Ripple (which Is my all time favourite) It took me straight back to my childhood. The Cheesecake was also lovely, it could have been a little more set but it was tasty & light. I think the strawberries were poached which was lovely too. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal and if I could get a space again I think we all would go back within a heartbeat. I'm so excited to go for Sunday Lunch, even more so now! 3 courses with the EOTHO scheme were £15, which was excellent value. Typing this has made my mouth water and now all I can think about it the bearnaise sauce - Please could I have your recipe I would love to make it! EAT OUT TO HELP OUT
We decided to walk to the plough and harrow as I had been sent a free bottle of prosecco for my anniversary. We sat on a table outside as we had the dog, the waitress was friendly and inside seemed fairly busy. We ordered two maltsmiths while we had a look at the menu. We decided on some picky bits, so ordered garlic mushrooms, garlic bread (on sourdough), onion rings & fish and chips to share and our course the bottle of prosecco. The food arrived, but no onion rings, they did come back with some, not sure if the waitress had forgotten or the kitchen hadn't made them. The Sourdough garlic bread was lovely, and so was the mushrooms on toast. The fish was crispy and golden and the chips were also tasty, however the mushy peas had a skin on the top of them, so we didn't eat those. The onion rings were homemade so you cannot go wrong. The prosecco was also really nice, normally I'm not really a fan, but we had no problem polishing off the bottle! All in all, it was a pleasant evening, especially when it's a small walk from home. The bill was around £23 with some discount and a free bottle of prosecco. EAT OUT HELP OUT SCHEME. Table for 3 - 8.00pm This was our first foodies outing, I'd always wanted to go to the brook & since we had all seen the kiev then we all wanted to, so when the eat out scheme came about we decided it was a must on the list, Kristy & I ordered our drinks and waited for our friend Gem Km to turn up. Gem arrived and ordered her drink, we then studied the menu to see what we fancied. We decided on Nacho's served with beef brisket, Smooth Duck Pate & Duck Bao Buns (we asked for an extra bao bun as we shared), Followed by Pork Belly & Octopus, Chicken Katsu Burger and a real curve ball of Cauli Cheese Strudel. The kiev sadly wasn't on the menu. The staff were all polite and nothing was too much trouble, they had had a few no shows which really frustrates me as every business is working so hard, even if you can't make it just a quick phone call makes all the difference. Our starters arrived and they definitely had the wow factor, they were plated beautifully, we couldn't wait to tuck in. The nachos were light and crisp & homemade! We felt the toppings could be a little more spread out as we struggled to get some of the nachos apart, (minor issue and if we didn't share i'm sure it would have been fine) They were really tasty, and we'd definitely be back for some more. The duck and bao buns were delicious, the duck fell apart and & the hoisin was stunning too. The bao buns were very airy & just how they should be. We all really enjoyed this as a whole. The pate was so smooth, the chutney sweet and the focaccia was divine. We enjoyed all 3 starters and I think our favourites were all different, it just proves how different everyone's taste buds are. We were cleared away and then the mains arrived. The smell coming from the pork made my mouth water, again the dishes were presented beautifully. We started with the pork, it literally fell apart, and sauce to go with it was sensational. Everyone was a little apprehensive about the octopus but it was quite meaty and tasty but not our cup of tea. The grilled pak choi was gorgeous too.
The Cauli Cheese Strudel was nice, the cauli steak was defo the best bit of that dish though, cooked perfectly with essence of tarragon and the creamed leeks were delicious too. The Katsu Burger was tasty, the bun was light and fluffy. the chicken was crisp. We did say it needed a bit of katsu sauce over the top of the chicken even if it came in a pot to pour yourself. The hidden slaw was lovely more of a coronation flavour but we really liked it. The chips were crispy and fluffy in the middle and the new potatoes were amazing. I personally really enjoyed the carrots too they were full of flavour. We had a fabulous evening and we will definitely be back for the sourdough fish and chips! The whole meal was presented beautifully and its one on the list we are glad we've visited. I cannot remember the full bill but we paid around £19 each for 3 starters, 3 mains & 1 cider, 1 beer & a diet coke with the EOTHO discount. EAT OUT HELP OUT SCHEME
Ounce Bar & Grill - Tything Worcester. My partner decided to treat us to some gorgeous steak! He'd booked the table for the 8.15pm on Tuesday night. We arrived and parked right outside which was a complete bonus, and they had cordoned off the front door to stop any walk ins which I thought was a good idea. He had booked a table in the garden as we prefer to eat outside when we can. The garden was small but spacious, we enjoyed watching the sun fade in the warm air. The waiter was polite and kept his distance. We ordered our drinks and he brought the menu. We decided to have the 'butchers cut' 14oz steak which came with chunky chips, salad garnish with grated parmesan on it and a cooked tomato. I would normally turn my nose up at a cooked tomato but it was delicious! We also ordered Peppercorn and Cognac sauce and the Blue Cheese Crumble to accompany our steak. The food arrived promptly and as soon as I could see it my mouth was watering. The steak was juicy and tasty, the salad was lovely too and the chips crunchy. The peppercorn and Cognac sauce was beautiful packed full of flavour and I polished all of mine off! The crumble to me slightly lacked with flavour compared to everything else, but I absolutely love blue cheese, so wanted it to be almost overpowering which I didn't feel it was. However it was a minor detail and I did mention to the waiter and he said he would pass it on. The bill came to £29.80 including the £20 EOTHO discount which included 2 x pints of Prava, 2 x 14oz steaks, 2 x peppercorn sauce, 2 x blue cheese crumble. The whole night was wonderful and if you haven't been you are missing out, especially on a Tuesday/ Wednesday with the £1 an ounce. EAT OUT HELP OUT Tuesday 11th August - 2 adults, 3 children - arrival around 2.30pm Hickory's Smokehouse Worcester We started somewhere else but we didn’t really fancy much on the menu so ended up walking to hickorys and with small children this was such a better idea. We were seated and all the staff were polite. It was quite busy, not sure how busy inside as we didn’t go in at all. They have a brilliant ship for children to play on and sanitiser on the fence to go in. Our table was quickly sanitised and laid up, they brought us some glasses and menus (we did have to ask for water but I think that was just because they were so busy). We ordered two Pepsi Max, which came pretty quickly and were lovely and refreshing We decided to order the burnt end brisket popcorn, corn dogs, chicken basket and the 3am Mac and cheese & a popcorn chicken for the children. The food came in a great time and the server was fun and chatty. I’ve been a couple of times but wasn’t overly fussed so wanted to go again as so many people on the group had said how good it was! It was all presented really well and we were eager to tuck in. We started with the brisket bites which were AMAZING, moist with a crunchy coating. Next the Corn dogs which were really tasty too, not overly sweet which was loads better than the ones I tried in America. The chicken basket was southern fried chicken, which was always very moist but not packed with flavour / spices and then the mac and cheese - YUM. They really do Mac and cheese well, I would love to know how they make it, the only thing that I personally think let it down was the chicken, it was just put in the middle of the Mac, I thought maybe it would be better as popcorn? So you could eat it with the macaroni. The salad was served in a colander and the slaw had horseradish in which I really like. Even the kids meal was served really well & it was tasty! The only downer on this meal was the server asked 3 times if we had finished, the first time we hadn’t even eaten half of our food. At one point gem took her little boy to the toilet and they presented me with the bill even though we were still eating. It was like they wanted us to leave, but didn’t explain that at the start when they gave us the table, there was few empty though so maybe not? Other than that, the lunch was amazing, packed full of flavour and it would make me want to go again. I love the huts too which is fab! We finally opted for a custard Icecream just to try it which was quite melted by the time it had got to the table which is a bit of a shame, but it was very hot. The bill came to £25.35 with £22.04 discount before the ice cream. A great place if you love ribs, smoked things and fantastic for the children too Part of the Gov Eat Out Scheme - 3 courses for £10 (should be £20) and Live Music - Table of 4. I saw this pop up on my facebook and living in Drakes Broughton I thought this was a perfect opportunity to try The Angel. Funnily enough I used to work here a while back when it was owned by the same people as The Berkeley Arms. I remember going for my trial shift and being told I could use anything out of the fridge to cook something.. Looking back now I picked such a rubbish dish, but I had never done on the spot cooking before and I was so nervous but managed to get the job anyway, Anywho back to our night out.. We arrived at The Angel just before 7pm, and ordered a drink from the bar, 2 x G&T's & 2 x Pints the bill was just over £20, I asked if we could start a tab but apparently they don't allow that in the garden, which I can understand. We walked down the garden to where the live music was, and we were shown to our table. The Benches were well spread out, and everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves. The cutlery was brought to each table, and we were asked to take it off the tray. We were asked both times for starter and main to see if we were ready which was really nice and we didn't feel rushed. The starters came and they were presented beautifully, two of our party had chosen salmon, one opted for the risotto and one for duck parfait. The salmon was lovely, I particularly enjoyed the dill & lemon drops. The Duck Parfait was smooth, and brioche toast gave it a nice sweetness. The Risotto looked like a good consistency and my step dad said it was tasty. We were cleared and ordered some more drinks. The cutlery again was brought on a tray so it wasn't handled too many times. The Mains arrived and I was slightly gutted I hadn't ordered the pie, again two of our party had ordered Cod & two of our party had ordered Pie. The Cod was cooked perfectly, the roasted new potatoes were piping hot, and the caper butter was tangy. I personally would have liked a little bit of lemon/citrus but that's more of a personal preference. The Pies were huge, full of pork, mustard & Leeks, served with chips and peas. If i was to criticise I think the cod portion could have been a little bigger, compared to the other dinners, however I really enjoyed it. Then it was time for pudding and my absolute favourite was on the menu Creme Brulee! I obviously chose that and so another one of our party, one opted for the brownie and the other picked the pear frangipane. The Creme Brulee was divine, with a secret rhubarb compote in the bottom. The Frangipane was also very tasty and the pastry was cooked to perfection. The live music was a brilliant addition, the only thing i would say was it was a little loud at points, and I think people ended up talking louder. The Girl had a lovely voice though. Everything was presented really well and you do eat with your eyes! I cannot wait to come back in normal circumstances and use my birthday voucher from the WFG community. I took my wonderful Nan & Mom for afternoon tea as they both deserve it 💗 I've never been here before and the grounds were beautiful, and the dining room had colourful chairs on each table. They also had fresh flowers which I personally think is a nice touch. We decided to take advantage of the #eatouthelpout and paid £7.50 pp which was brilliant, the tea was fabulous and there was so many cakes, from lemon tart to chocolate brownie. The sandwiches were delicious, possibly my favourite bit, I am a savoury kind of girl though! The bar man was very polite & accommodating, they brought the tea out and it definitely had a wow factor. I absolutely loved the stand and the cups and saucers. We also decided to enjoy a glass of prosecco, they are quite big so you could possibly share one between two. You can also walk round the gardens if you'd like and enjoy their scenery. They also have spa facilities which I imagine would be lovely and relaxing!
We decided to pop here for breakie, I’ve actually never been before. The Pub is split in two, the left hand side is the pub and right hand is the tea room, serving breakfast and homemade cake.
We were greeted by some lovely ladies, they all were wearing face shields which made us feel safe. We chose to sit outside, they brought the menus out and we both picked the big spoon breakfast which was £8.50 including bottomless tea and coffee. The breakfast was lovely, well presented with Worcestershire sausages. The tea is all loose which is fabulous too. I think for the price this is a complete bargain, and definitely somewhere to visit. They are also dog friendly. We went to wheels on Wednesday and I wanted to support the local businesses there so we opted to try the fish and chips.
The fish was crisp & the batter was light. They probed the fish to check it was up to temperature which I liked & both members of staff were professional and polite. The chips were crisp too and the curry sauce was tasty & homemade, you could have chosen mushy peas if you wanted. All for £7! Which we thought was we thought was very reasonable price. Having looked on your instagram too i'm a little gutted i missed the brownies, they look gorgeous! We would defo purchase from you guys again! Can't wait to see you at the next show. We went to Fuego last night & it did not disappoint. After hearing so many wonderful reviews on foodies, it seemed silly not to try their pizza. They open until 9.30pm which works amazingly for us as we generally work late, not normally my fault! We ordered the Burrata Pizza, the Fuego Pizza they also kindly gifted us some korean wings to try & some puds! We started with the Korean wings - Korean Dak gang jeong sticky chicken wings, garlic, chilli, soy and peanuts. OH MY GOD. They were sensational, the flavours that were packed into each chicken wing was amazing, the actual chicken wing was so moist too! Then we moved onto the Burrata, it was so fresh, perfect for a summers evening. The only criticism well its not really one more person preference i'd have a loved a little bit of cracked black pepper on the top, but that's my preference! The Fuego pizza was also delicious, i felt it reflected Fuego for who they are, A tasty pizza, with a bit of a kick. Just how we like it! The lady that served me was lovely, she was talkative, and very friendly, a lovely welcome to our first visit to Fuego. Whilst we ordered the pizza i also purchased two bottles of beer which was great for us as we wanted to sit down by the river. They also sell mini bottles of gin, which i ended up buying for a present! I also loved the decor, it was funky, quirky but modern. I cannot wait to return, Thank you so much! Wychbold Fudge
Have been looking at trying wychbold fudge for ages and luckily James bought me some for my birthday. We tried the first one last night and it was beautiful, the right amount of raspberry & white chocolate. The fudge is so smooth, and beautifully presented. Cannot wait to try the others! We also have Lemon Drizzle, Droitwich Salted Fudge & Biscoff Well I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a sucker for RPE. It all started with the Christmas markets and loving their pulled pork rolls. The most exciting thing about the Victorian fayre in my opinion. Anyway they finally decided to open a takeaway in Pershore. It has grown and grown and is less than 6 months old! They also received a 10 from the @foodreviewclub which is totally deserved. If you haven’t been yet, you are missing out. This is from my birthday, they do specials weekly & this week is a banger (16th-19th July) - so look out for that 👀 A few of our favourites are the piggy pastrami snag, chorizOMG, the FRC meat box and their halloumi fries. The cowabunga box (special) was also incredible but you need to follow their socials to see if that’s going to make a return! Their Chips are straight from the sack then chipped and then fried - you couldn't get any fresher! The Garlic & Rosemary fries are a firm favourite. I also love the decor. It's fun & funky. The guys are always polite and work so hard to make everything perfect. The takeaway is only small and it amazes me how they manage to produce such a high quality with the space they have. They have also announced they are going to make a small restaurant upstairs. I cannot wait to see what they do with that! Socials - @RolyPolyEats (Takeaway) @RolyPolyLtd (Events) Phone Number to put your order in - 01386 555735 Becky's Bhajis We are eating the rest today but we had these for starter last night they were absolutely to die for! I can’t wait to try the chutney & the cauliflower bhaji later! The bhajis were incredible, absolutely full of flavour and delicious. They were really easy to heat back up. We loved the chutney, it had a pleasant kick to it, perfect for on cracker and some brie.. mmm. The cauliflower was also incredible, i absolutely loved all the flavours! Thank you so much Becky WOW
Perfect Friday Treat These cupcakes were kindly #gifted & delivered to my door by the lovely Lynne Robinson aka The Cupcake Fairy Evesham . They were absolutely delicious Both the vanilla & chocolate sponge were moist, and all the butter creams were full of flavour. Would highly recommend, check out her Facebook page to see her other bakes & order your lockdown cupcakes Thank you again WOW WOW WOW. Throughly enjoyed our dinner tonight. Feli's bar & restaurant take on Chinese. We opted for menu A, it was absolutely fantastic. Everything was so so tasty & flavoursome. Loved every bit of it. The spring rolls were out of this world I could eat those over & over again! I’ve been thinking about it all day & it did not disappoint! The puddings were also to die for, the rich chocolate pot, the zingy lemon posset & creme brûlée (my absolute fave) were perfect to finish off dinner & the gorgeous baileys ice-cream The wine absolutely beautiful, an easy drinking Pinot. Would highly recommend to anyone, hopefully you will do this again! Thank you so so much Happy Paddy’s Day!
I visited my Nan & Grandad today, we walked round to The Bull Inn at Fernhill Heath, we all ordered a toasted sandwich and a side of chips to share. We had a half a Guinness as it’s paddy’s day! The sandwich was very filling, salad fresh, and the chips were cooked perfectly. For £5.95 for a toasted sandwich, crisps & salad it was perfect for the money! The staff are welcoming, and the pub is spacious. They have a large room perfect for parties, wakes & family gatherings. Check out their Facebook page for more details. We visited Clive's Of Cropthorne today!
I’ve followed them since it was announced they were building a new Clives as its round the corner from work. They have a large butchers area, and do weekly meat boxes for £20 This weeks was - 1lb minced beef 1lb stewing beef 1 x pork loin 4 x chicken thighs 2 x 8oz rump steaks We arrived at 4.30pm (they close at 5pm) and all of the meat had been cleared away & cleaned down but it was okay as the butcher (Ian) was still serving & I can appreciate how long it takes to clean everything. We asked for a meat box but unfortunately they had sold out, however he said he could make one up for me. Ian was cheery and very helpful and made us our own meat box to enjoy! They also have a good range of local produce including Peter Cooks Bread, Pershore Brewery &Macneil's Smokehouse . Keep an eye out on their page for their weekly boxes or pop in for a coffee. They also have a climbing frame for children outside and some picnic benches for when the weather is better! We visited Entouraj on the 6th March, I’ve always driven past this place and said it I wanted to go but never made it! We arrived at 6.45 for our table booked at 7pm There was 4 of us. We bought a drink from the bar & they wanted to seat us straight away, but we did decide to wait five minutes as we had just walked in. We then went to our table, the decor was nice, seats comfy, and lots of tables which at one point were all occupied. The menus are already on the table, so you can look as you please, and the waiter came over to ask if we wanted any popadoms which we said yes. They arrived very promptly. We looked at the menu & decided what we liked the sound of! We had two of the Kebab E Bahar - Mixed Grill (sharers) to start, which came on a sizzling plate, and was very tasty. I picked the Malabar Prawns, my other half picked Kadha King Prawns & our friends picked the Bengal Fish Curry & Lal Maas Keema. We asked for a 15 min break, and when the food arrived it wasn’t even 10 mins, which was a shame as we weren’t ready for mains just yet. My curry was really creamy & full of flavour. My partners was very tasty! The Bengal fish curry was cooked to perfection & the Keema was tasty too! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The chef also came to have a chat with us, which I thought was really nice, he was clean & well presented. We were also given a leaflet for his cookery class which I shared on Instagram yesterday! The only downside is we felt a bit rushed at times, the mains managed to come before we had another beer even though we ordered them at the same time. We left around 10.30pm after a good catch up, I know everyone likes to know how much it was but we were treated, what I will say is the bill was little over £100 for 2 sharers, 4 mains, 2 rice, 2 naan, 5 pints of beer & a bottle of red. Overall it was a lovely evening, with good food & great company. Would definitely return. |
